Moon Over My Justice
(Part Two -- Variant B)
by Sean Taylor

"PLEASE BACK AWAY FROM THE IMPULSE!"

Impulse looked up to see Superboy hovering in front of the Super Cycle, yelling into a giant megaphone.

"Okay, sure," Superboy continued, "He may be a weinie, but he's our weinie, and he doesn't get roasted until we say he gets roasted."

A quick arrow from Arrowette sent the megaphone spiraling out of the Kid's hands. "That's about enough of that, Kon," she said.

The blonde girl in the ponytails turned her attention from Impulse and he watched as she pointed her magic wand thing at the Super Cycle. "I am Sailor Moon.I fight for love and justice, and in the name of the moon, I will punish you." Before she could shoot another blast from it, one of the other girls, the one with short dark hair, grabbed her shoulders. "Mercury? Why are you stopping me?" the girl who had called herself Sailor Moon asked, quite obviously irritated that she'd been interrupted.

"Don't be so impulsive, Sailor Moon. We've never seen these people before. They may not be working for the Nega-Moon."

"But they could be," said the girl in red with the long dark hair, her face almost in a snarl.

"This one attacked Tuxedo Mask, and that's all I need to know," said the one called Sailor Moon.

Tuxedo Mask. There was that name again. Impulse laughed out loud, and two of the girls shot him confused, but aggressive glances. "Sorry," he said, "But you've got to admit, it's a pretty stupid name."

"That does it." Ponytail girl planted her feet firmly and raised the wand again, ready to strike.

But in the nanosecond between thought and deed, Impulse got up fromt the ground and snatched it from her hand. "So," he said when he stopped a few yards away, "Can you pull rabbits out of hats with this too?"

"My sceptor?!" the girl exclaimed.

"We don't want to have to fight you," came Robin's voice from above. "If you really fight for love and justice, then back down. We are not your enemies." There was a long pause as the Super Cycle landed and the rest of the team leaped off and into a defensive positon. Position A-12, if Impulse remembered correctly. "And Impulse?"

He glanced to Robin. "Yeah?"

"Give Miss Moon back her sceptor. If we're going to ask them to trust us, we need to show that we trust them too."

"But..."

"Please, Impulse," Arrowette asked sweetly.

He slumped his shoulders. "Well, okay." Besides, the moon girl was kind of cute now that she wasn't trying to kill him.

If this is a trick, Sailor Moon thought as the fast kid handed her back her sceptor, they've got us outnumbered by one. At least until I find out what's wrong with Darien. She kept her distance as the kid in the red shirt, the leader she guessed by the way the others listened to him, introduced himself.

"I"m Robin, and this is Young Justice," he said, motioning to the other kids standing around him -- and the one still floating in the air above them.  "That's Superboy up hovering up there. And the guy you were trying to ice is called Impulse."

"Nice to meet you," Impulse said as he sped in front of Sailor Moon and extended his hand. She took it cautiously. "Then think I'm a little impulsive. Go figure."

"I get that a lot too."

"Ahem," Robin coughed. "This is Arrowette," he said, pointing to the girl on his right.

She was blonde, young, and very attractive, and Sailor Moon was suddenly glad that Darien was out cold and unable to see the girl.

"And that's Secret and Wonder Girl," Robin continued, motioning to his left, toward the gas girl and the one who obvioulsy didn't read fashion magazines.

"We're the Sailor Scouts, defenders of Crystal Tokyo. I'm Sailor Moon, and th--"

"Crystal Tokyo?" the flying kid with the spit curl lowered himself to the ground. "Never heard of it."

"Well, smart aleck, I've never heard of Young Justice either, so there." In a moment she was up in the boy's face.

Robin appeared between them. "Let's skip the gratuitous fight scene this time shall we. Especially after that mess YOU started with the point men, Kid."

Superboy brushed his curl out of his face and sort of snorted. "Whatever, fearless leader. Just tell Princess Leia here to get off my case."

"And... and I'm Sailor Mercury," said a soft-spoken voice behind Sailor Moon. "To be honest, we're not even sure where we are. We got sucked into this weird portal and next thing we knew, we were here trying to save --"

A tall girl in green cut Mercuy off. "Hi," she said reaching for Robin's hand. "Sailor Mercury gets carried away sometimes. We came looking for Emerald and thought you were working for her, that's all. I"m Sailor Jupiter, by the way."

"And I'm Sailor Venus," said a blonde dressed in an orange skirt. "But you can call me Sailor V, if you want." She blushed, and Robin though she reminded him of Steph. He was missing her more than he even had thought he would. "And sorry about attacking your partner."

"That's okay. You'd be surprised how often that happens."

A girl in the back coughed. "I'm Sailor Mars. Now can we cut the introductions already and figure out what we're going to do about Emerald and about getting us back home?"

Sailor Moon stepped up and whispered to Robin. "Don't mind Mars. She's gets a little pushy sometimes."

"I heard that, Sailor Moon!"

"Well, it's true."

"Is not. You're just not pushy enough, that's all. And you call yourself a leader."

Robin sighed. A team full of Impulses, he thought. Why can't Young Justice ever face real bad guys like Killer Croc or Two-Face. No, we have to deal with all the wannbe comedy teams. Sigh. "As I was saying, we're the good guys."

Mars and Moon stopped arguing, and Moon turned to face him again. "Good guys?! Good guys don't go around beating people's boyfriends, do they?"

In a flash, Impulse was up and in her face. "Look here, girl, he attacked me first. That green woman told him to kill me and he threw a flower at me."

She wasn't about to let some stranger slander Darien that way. . "I will not stand here and listen to you say things like that about my Tuxedo Mask, you, you, you 600 mile and hour bad hair day."

The flying kid floated down to join his friends. "Ooh, a whole flower, huh, Imp. Sounds scary. Yeah, I'd be really scared of a flower."

"Shut up."

"No, you shut up."

"No, you shut up."

* * * * *

Wow, Sailor Moon thought, all these guys do is gripe and argue. It's a good thing the Sailor Scouts aren't like that.

"Both of you shut up." Robin lowered his head and cupped it in his hands. "I"m sorry, Sailor Moon. Please accept our apologies. There's obviously been some sort of misunderstanding."

"But he attacked me, Robin! He did!" Impulse said, almost with a pout. "Right after that green woman put that rock in his chest."

"Did you say a rock?" Sailor Moon glanced back to see Sailor Venus speak up. "And she put it in his chest?"

"No wonder he attacked you." It was Mercury this time.

"I'm afraid I don't follow," Robin said with a confused look on his face.

"The green woman was obviously Emerald --"

"What was your first clue?" mumbled the fashion victim Robin had introduced as Wonder Girl.

"Wonder Girl..."

"Oops, sorry." She walked over to the one called Superboy and whispered something to him.

Well, thought Sailor Moon, let's stop wasting time and get back to what's important here ... Darien of course. She left Robin and walked to where Darien was lying on the ground unconscious. "Moon Healing Activa --" Her words were cut off as another portal opened up and sucked the seemingly lifeless form of Tuxedo Mask into it. "DARIEN!!!!" she yelled and jumped in after him.

* * * * *

"FIND COVER! HANG ONTO ANYTHING YOU CAN!" Robin shouted as he tossed a strong line to the closest tree. As he swung around to secure the line, he scooped up two of the Scouts, Mercuy and Venus, he thought, and told them to hang on tight.

Looking back, he watched as Sailor Moon and the guy in the tux disappeared into the portal. He searched through his memory, trying to think of anything that would give him a clue to what the portal was. But there was nothing. It was too quiet and windy to be a boom tube. No, this was something entirely new.

No time to think now, he reminded himself. Just act. Get everyone out of the mouth of that portal and get them safe. "Impulse! Get --"

"Got 'em." Impulse appeared behind him with Superboy, Arrowette, and Jupiter in tow.

He caught sight of Superboy glueing himself, Wonder Girl and Mars to the ground with his tactile telekinesis. "Way to go, Kon!:" He shouted, but wasn't sure if Superboy could hear him over the roar of the sucking wind.

"Robin?" said Arrowette, on the verge of passing out.

"Yes?"

"This really sucks, doesn't it?"

"Not you too."

"Sorry. You just looked so serious, and you've got such a nice smile..." she said as she drifted into unconciousness.

Sweet kid, but a little young, he thought, then he noticed Venus staring at him too.

"She's right, you know."

"Thanks." Dangit, he was blushing and he hated it. Mind back on the game, he reminded himself. Secret. Had anybody seen her. She was the only one unaccounted for. "IMPULSE! GET SECRET!"

"I'm on it," he said and whizzed off toward the mouth of the portal again.

* * * * *

When Impulse reached Secret, he didn't have a clue what to do to help her. She was in her mist form and he couldn't touch her to carry her to safety no matter how hard he tried. If only she were able to hear him over the roar of the portal. Then it hit him. Physics. Rule number something or other from that guy with the weird hair. Something about every force having an opposing force.

Secret drifted closer to the opening, and Impulse put his plan into action. Running in the opposite direction of the twisting force of the portal's winds, he found the right speed to counter the strong winds. He watched as they air around him slowed down and his friends and the remaining Sailor Scouts were able to stand on the ground once more without being sucked into the vaccuum cleaner from hell.

He stopped when he heard the loud boom as the two opposing forces met and pounded each other. Then there was silence.

The portal stood open, but calm. No wind. No sucking. No nothing. He had done it. He had stopped the portal. He had saved everyone.

Cool.

"Good job, Impulse." It was Robin's voice. "That was some quick thinking."

"Just physics."

"Yep. Way to go." He watched as Robin walked over and studied the portal. "How long to you think it will hold?"

"As long as we want it too, I guess. I think I broke it."

"I'm pretty sure it's not broken." A girl's voice this time. The short haired one. Mercury, was it? "But still, we should have plenty of time to rescue Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask."

"Then what are we waiting for?" said the tall one, Jupiter.

"Okay." Robin this time. "But not without a plan."
